From November 29 to December 4, 2011, the Kumpoo Macau Open was held at the Cotai Arena, The Venetian Macao. Authorized by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and organized by the Macau Badminton Association, the six-day tournament featured a total prize purse of US$200,000 (approximately MOP 1.6 million), a significant increase from 2010. It was the 14th stop on the 2011 BWF Grand Prix Gold circuit and served as one of the qualifying points events for the 2012 London Olympic Games. A total of 299 athletes from 24 countries and regions, including China, Denmark, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea, registered to compete across five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
