May 11, 2026 — At the recently concluded Mexican International Challenge 2026, Team Kumpoo member and Canadian women’s doubles player Catherine Choi partnered with her teammate to deliver a strong performance, reaching the semifinals with consistent play and fighting spirit. The result marked yet another impressive showing for Catherine this season on the Pan American circuit.
In the opening round, Catherine and her partner came out in excellent form, displaying great chemistry as they secured a dominant 2–0 victory in just 20 minutes to advance comfortably to the next stage. In the second round, they faced a tough Brazilian pair in a tightly contested three-game battle. At the critical moments, Catherine remained composed and fearless on key points, eventually sealing the decisive game 24–22 to book a place in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, facing even stronger opposition, Catherine continued to fight aggressively and produced several exciting rallies. Although she ultimately fell short of reaching the final, the semifinal finish once again demonstrated the consistency of her form throughout the season.
Throughout the tournament, Catherine competed wearing Kumpoo KH-G805 shoes, using the Hyper Shot Nex racket paired with JS-65 string. The KH-G805’s VeloLite ultra-light outsole delivered exceptional court feel and rapid stopping performance, allowing her to maintain explosive movement and stable footwork during high-speed rallies. Meanwhile, the Hyper Shot Nex racket combined with JS65 string provided precise shot placement and powerful rear-court attacking capability.
After the tournament, Catherine said: “Every tournament is a new challenge. This trip to Mexico gave me valuable match experience and also showed me the areas where I still need to improve. I’m grateful for the support from Team Kumpoo, and I’ll carry these lessons forward into the next tournaments ahead.”
