2026-06-22

June 22, 2026 — At the recently concluded Macau Open 2026, Team Kumpoo delivered an outstanding performance, with two athletes finishing as runners-up. Chan Yin Chak continued his impressive form in mixed doubles, while Kantaphon Wangcharoen announced his return to top-level competition, bringing further glory to the team.

Competing in mixed doubles, Hong Kong China's Chan Yin Chak and his partner enjoyed a sensational run to the final. The pair won five consecutive matches in straight games, advancing with authority and showcasing exceptional form throughout the tournament.

Kumpoo equipment played a key role in Chan's performance. The Asura II racket delivered sharp, precise shot placement and explosive attacking power, allowing him to capitalize whenever opportunities arose. Meanwhile, the KH-G805 badminton shoes provided rapid acceleration and lightweight agility, enabling him to cover the court effectively in both attack and defense.

In the final, Chan and his partner faced the tournament's top seeds and the current World No. 2 mixed doubles pair from China. Although they ultimately fell short, Chan's performance throughout the week was undoubtedly another career highlight and demonstrated his potential to challenge the world's elite.

In the men's singles draw, Thai star Kantaphon Wangcharoen achieved a long-awaited breakthrough. Reaching the final for the first time in nine years, he announced his return with a dominant victory, putting an end to a prolonged slump in form.

Throughout the tournament, Wangcharoen played with composure and efficiency, attacking decisively without hesitation, and cruised through his first five rounds with straight 2-0 set wins. In the final, he faced a rising young talent from China. In the opening set, Wangcharoen drew on his wealth of experience and precise control to take a commanding 21-11 lead, showcasing the form that once made him one of the sport's elites. However, as the match progressed, fatigue caught up with him, and he was unable to sustain his advantage through to the end, ultimately falling short and settling for the runner-up finish. Although he fell short of the title, this silver medal marks Wangcharoen's official comeback — proof that he still has what it takes to compete with the world's best.

Team Kumpoo fielded a strong lineup throughout the Macau Open. Catherine Choi, Andika Ramadiansyah, and Nozomi Shimizu competed in mixed doubles, with Shimizu also participating in women's doubles. Keisha Fatimah Azzahra contested the women's singles event, Cheam June Wei competed in men's singles, and Lwi Shenghao represented the team in men's doubles. Every Team Kumpoo athlete gave their all on court, testing themselves against world-class opponents and gaining valuable competitive experience.

From Chan Yin Chak's remarkable run to the final to Kantaphon Wangcharoen's inspiring comeback, and from every athlete's fighting spirit to their relentless pursuit of improvement, Team Kumpoo delivered an impressive performance at the Macau Open 2026. These achievements are a testament to the team's hard work and dedication, while also serving as motivation for the challenges ahead. Looking forward, Kumpoo will continue to stand alongside every Team Kumpoo athlete, empowering performance through professional equipment and striving for even greater success on the international stage.
